Brenda Hosking – National Drug Education Consultant
MYHEM – Masters in Youth Health and Education Management
National Drug Education Consultant – ALDAF
Brenda has had a long professional involvement in drug education. Her first link to the ALDAF was in early 2000 when the Foundation supported the development, production and distribution of an interactive CD-ROM, DrugTest. The CD-ROM provided an understanding of the complexities of drug testing in sport. The ALDAF ensured every Australian high school was provided with 2 copies prior to the Sydney 2000 Olympics. Brenda was a voluntary Lead Doping Control official at the Sydney 2000 Olympics. At the time she was working with the ASADA drug testing elite athletes and Sports Medicine Australia SA managing a drugs in sport education program for non-elite and sub-elite athletes.
A move to providing services to schools in conjunction with the SA Drug Strategy team followed. Nurturing school-community partnerships and providing parents with strategies to enjoy the adolescent social development of their young people became her new specialty. As a result Brenda has become professionally passionate about developing the resilience skills of young people and creating understanding between different generations which nurtures positive life and community experiences.
Currently Brenda is working independently providing Consultancy services to the ALDAF, Australian Drug Foundation, Association of Independent Schools (SA), Resilient Youth Australia and Phunktional
